Pink Cadillac Status: One Determined Mary Kay Sales Representative’s Journey to the Top
This week we are posting about something a little different but it’s still in the realm of motivation and perseverance. At FIT Radio we come across people who motivate us whether it be the DJs through their mixes, the athletes, trainers and fitness models through their will power and healthy lifestyles, or our friends who persevere in such competitive atmospheres that most of us are in awe of their success because most others have failed. We are featuring a young woman who worked her way from the bottom to the very top in a field where not many can say they’ve done the same. We’re talking about Mary Kay and the revolutionary make up line that’s changing women’s lives. One life in particular is Keara Murphy!
(Keara is on the left)
Keara Murphy moved from New Orleans to Atlanta 3 years ago (2010) after a break up, only knowing her sister and brother-in-law, and what better way for a fresh start than moving to a new city? She began her Mary Kay business just a few months before moving to help herself branch out and grow her network. Within four months of being a Mary Kay Representative she earned her first free Mary Kay car, a brand new Cheverolet Malibu! Keara says: ”I loved the person I was becoming in the process of the challenges I had to overcome being a business owner in a new city. My confidence in the business and in myself grew to the point where I honestly believed I could earn one of those gorgeous pink Cadillacs! So I did what my mentors who had earned Pink Cadillacs before had told me to do. There were a lot of no’s, a lot of cancellations, a lot of things deterring me from the goal, but every set back is a set up for success. If growing a business was always easy then everyone would do it. I made mistakes and learned from them. I didn’t dwell on the small things and I kept my eye on the prize!” Then it happened, just 21 months from beginning her Mary Kay business Keara had done it, she earned the gorgeous Pearl Mary Kay Pink Cadillac! Keara says: ”It’s almost been a year and every day I drive around in my trophy on wheels and I feel like a million bucks. Every day I get positively affirmed from perfect strangers and people who didn’t always believe in me. The thing I love the most about my Mary Kay business is the person I have become in the process; I am more confident and I get to help other women grow their successful Mary Kay businesses as well!” A feeling that is a reward in itself if you ask us.
We like to think that some of Keara’s success is due to the fact that she plays FIT Radio at her Mary Kay parties
Check out Keara’s contact information if you are interested in pursuing a future with Mary Kay Cosmetics! And make sure to check out her video!
To start a Mary Kay business it all begins with a Starter Kit! From there we go over your dreams, your goals, how much money you want to make, how much time you want to spend then make a business plan for each woman individually! It’s exciting to have control of your financial future!

So, living in the city of Atlanta is awesome, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in GA, but lately the spike in gas prices within city limits is getting a little ridiculous.
My first thought was, “Dang, I thought gas prices went down during election season?!” And then it came to me after a couple seconds… gas prices go up when there is a big holiday coming…Oh my gosh, Labor Day Weekend is almost here!! With the summer winding down, people are scrambling to get everything done at work before the long weekend. So here at FIT Radio, we want to keep everyone entertained on the last warm 3 day weekend holiday. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to depress you or wish away Summer (hell to the nah) but I looked at my calendar and then next “official” holiday (meaning not National Handstand Day, Jill Hanner! )
is Columbus Day which isn’t until the 2nd Monday in September, vom. So we absolutely have to enjoy our last warm weather hoorah. The mixes will provide you with the standard “Manic Monday” track list, along with other fun party mixes that will definitely pump you up to make sure you end your summer with a bang! you can find all the mixes under the Labor Day Station on http://fitradio.com
FIT Radio is a fan of the music festival and the season is in full swing now…
Bonnaroo, Ultra, Coachella, or SXSW… you name it and at least one person from our FIT team has attended. Festivals have exploded in the last decade by building a cult following of fans that attend year in and year out to see all their favorite artist. Soon we hope to be sending FIT Radio representatives to all of these festivals with our own FIT promo tent to spread the word about this awesome app. Last year, in FIT Radio’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, the city announced the return of the popular annual Atlanta festival Music Midtown. The year of its resurrection was full of “bands of the future,” said long time Music Midtown coordinator and promoter, Peter Conlon. This year, Music Midtown will feature a more diverse line-up bringing in a couple hip-hop artists to the mix. Whether it’s the ten-day SXSW festival or the two-day Music Midtown, you can bet that FIT Radio will be in attendance, because it’s events like these that showcase all the great artists of today. We take the experience that these great music festivals offer music enthusiasts like us and bring it home to our app to provide our users with the best content from around the world.
So this past Saturday, Lexi and I had the privilege of promoting with the team organizing and coordinating The Great Urban Race, which is, if you don’t already know, a crazy fun scavenger hunt throughout Atlanta, or Chicago, or whichever city they are visiting that weekend. Think The Amazing Race television show but on a somewhat smaller scale Anyway, the race wasn’t without a clue sheet, themed teams with fun costumes and, what else, great music provided by yours truly! It was an awesome experience not only because of the stirring atmosphere surrounding all the runners but the people at Red Frog Events were so incredibly helpful and kind. Cynthia, Catherine, Tyler, and the rest of the team were a pleasure to work with and we can’t wait to do more with Red Frog Events! Anytime we ever speak with anyone at their company, they are always happy and full of excitement and energy. You can tell they all must love what they do! Here are some pics, and don’t forget to head on over to our Facebook to see them all!! P.S. I would definitely recommend signing up for this event! Check out their page to see if they’re in a city near you.

FIT Radio was invited to provide music for the Finish Line at The Color Run this past weekend at Piedmont Park in Atlanta. Since we all talked about how exciting it looked months before while we sat in the office, we were all thrilled to receive the opportunity to partner up with such a unique race. We brought out a team of Promo Girls with FIT Radio stencils and neon orange paint; as the girls ran around tagging people, they also got in on the action (see Abby, a FIT Radio promo girl, covered in paint to the left).
The Color Run was something none of us have ever seen before! It honestly was the Happiest 5K you could ever run! There were people playing around with colored powder everywhere, throwing it in the air, as they danced with their friends. The energy of the crowd was incredible! We may be a little biased, but we believe that it had something to do with our FIT Radio DJ Rimby who was providing non-stop, high-energy music throughout the entire event. All-in-all, it was a great day, and the most fun we have ever had promoting FIT Radio. Kudos to The Color Run for such a great idea!
